GRTC 3354: Video Planning and Production

Course Description

Planning, storyboarding, workflow, and techniques of capturing audio and video.

Course Goals

Students completing the course will:

  1. describe features of a digital video camera, including video file modes;
  2. demonstrate the use of video digital camera controls;
  3. demonstrate the use of composition rules, such as camera placement, framing, and movement;
  4. apply digital video workflow to their project planning;
  5. pre-plan a video shoot, inluding proposal writing, hiring, budget planning, and time schedule;
  6. plan a video shoot;
  7. prepare a storyboard and write a script for the video production;
  8. use digital video camera to tell a story, promote a product, or make a quick movie;
  9. understand lighting fundamentals;
  10. capture a simple movie;
  11. apply different lighting techniques to different shooting situations; and
  12. apply different techniques of capturing video and audio.
