Textile Screen-Printing

The Guide is designed to inform those who work in the screen-printing industry about preparing an electronic art file correctly. Many designers are unfamiliar with which file formats and art programs to use when creating artwork for screen-printing t-shirts. Most fail to consider the issue of dot gain, angles, and frequencies when using halftones, and are unknowledgeable of the importance of trapping and choking.

This website includes detailed descriptions of most often used file formats, and explains which formats are recommended when creating artwork for screen-printing. This site also gives a thorough explanation about halftones, the issue of dot gain, and includes recommended frequencies and angles that can be used. The Guide also explains the importance of trapping and choking in regards to color.

The Guide’s goal is to inform designers of the issues involved with preparing electronic art files for textile screen-printing, and preparing them correctly. With these efforts, we hope to benefit many designers and printers in the industry.
